# Skogar® — Silica Aerogel Thermal Barrier Platform

Skogar® is Enersens’ silica aerogel composite thermal barrier platform for ultra-thin thermal insulation, fire-resistant thermal protection and demanding integration constraints.

The range includes four grades built on the same silica aerogel composite platform: ST, HT, VHT and UHT.

## Key material facts

- **Material type:** silica aerogel composite on fiber substrates.
- **Main use:** ultra-thin thermal insulation and fire-resistant thermal barriers.
- **Thermal conductivity:** from 0.012 W/(m·K) at 20 °C, depending on grade and configuration.
- **Thickness range:** 0.5 to 6.5 mm, depending on grade.
- **Fire performance:** UL94 V-0 on most grades and thicknesses; FAR 25.853 on HT, VHT and UHT grades.
- **Temperature performance:** high temperatures supported, with short-time flame exposure up to 1700 °C for UHT grade.
- **Typical applications:** batteries, aerospace, defense, electronics, cryogenic systems and extreme thermal zones.
- **Manufacturer:** Enersens, France.

| Skogar® HT | PAN preox fiber | Flexible | 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 / 3.5 / 5.5 mm | Up to 1300 °C | 0.012–0.018 W/(m·K) | UL94 V-0 + FAR 25.853 Appendix F |
| Skogar® VHT | Silica fiber | Semi-rigid | 2.0 / 3.0 mm | Up to 1400 °C | 0.012–0.017 W/(m·K) | UL94 V-0 + FAR 25.853 Appendix F |
| Skogar® UHT | Ceramic fiber | Semi-rigid | 4.5 / 6.5 mm | Up to 1700 °C | 0.012–0.018 W/(m·K) | UL94 V-0 + FAR 25.853 Appendix F |

## Skogar® ST

Skogar® ST is based on a glass fiber substrate.

It is a rigid ultra-thin sheet starting at 0.5 mm, rated up to 1100 °C. It is intended for tight spaces and rigid integration, including battery inter-cell thermal barriers, electronics housings, thin-profile insulation and rigid thermal management layers.

ST is the grade to consider when rigidity and very low thickness are primary constraints.

## Skogar® HT

Skogar® HT is based on a PAN preox fiber substrate.

It is a flexible sheet available from 2.0 to 5.5 mm, rated up to 1300 °C. It is UL94 V-0 and FAR 25.853 Appendix F certified.

Typical use cases include aerospace and defense insulation, fire protection on complex geometries, engine bay and APU thermal protection, flexible insulation for enclosures and battery fire barriers where FAR 25.853 is relevant.

HT is the versatile grade for flexible integration, higher temperature exposure and aerospace fire compliance.

## Skogar® VHT and UHT

Skogar® VHT and UHT are semi-rigid sheets for the highest temperature environments.

### Skogar® VHT

- **Substrate:** silica fiber
- **Thicknesses:** 2.0 / 3.0 mm
- **Short-time flame exposure:** up to 1400 °C
- **Typical use:** high-temperature aerospace, space and defense zones above HT’s range.

### Skogar® UHT

- **Substrate:** ceramic fiber
- **Thicknesses:** 4.5 / 6.5 mm
- **Short-time flame exposure:** up to 1700 °C
- **Typical use:** atmospheric re-entry, solid rocket propulsion, launcher exhaust zones and the most extreme thermal environments.

Both VHT and UHT are FAR 25.853 certified and are intended for propulsion systems, re-entry applications and other extreme thermal zones.
