Product overview
Rigid, ultra-thin, and easy to integrate.
Skogar® ST combines silica aerogel with a glass fiber substrate to create a rigid sheet with exceptional thermal insulation properties. Its rigidity and thin profile make it well suited for applications where the thermal barrier must fit into tight spaces or integrate into existing structures — such as inter-cell battery separators, electronics housings, and cabin insulation panels.
Available from 0.5 mm — one of the thinnest silica aerogel composite sheets commercially available — ST allows engineers to add thermal protection where other materials simply don’t fit. Easy to cut, die-cut, and laminate. Hydrophobic surface chemistry supports long-term stability in demanding environments.
Typical applications
- Batteries — inter-cell thermal barriers, casing insulation
- Aircraft — lightweight thermal barriers for weight- and space-constrained zones not requiring FAR 25.853 compliance
- Space — electronics bays, instrument protection, rover platforms
- Defense — electronics housings, IR signature management, sensor protection

Not sure ST is the right grade?
ST is the go-to choice when you need rigidity or an ultra-thin profile. For higher temperatures or flexible integration, consider HT, VHT or UHT.
Skogar® HT
Flexible, higher temperature (1300 °C), FAR 25.853 certified. Choose HT when you need to conform to curved surfaces or meet aerospace fire standards.
Skogar® VHT & UHT
Silica or ceramic fiber substrate. Up to 1400/1700 °C. FAR 25.853 certified. Choose VHT or UHT for re-entry shields, exhaust zones, and environments above 1300 °C.
